Audio: Black Bobby "Major Blazer" (Pon de flow) x "Exhibit DMV"

“If you haven’t heard about Black Bobby, now it’s time to pay attention.”
-Miami New Times
Two new tracks from Black Bobby’s upcoming mixtape, Negro Dialect. Much love to the Miami New Times for giving this release so much love. Actually, this single, especially “Major Blazer,” (it was leaked way before “Exhibit DMV”) has been gettin’ a ton of love from not only the folks here in Miami but all over the place. “Exhibit DMV” might be one of those “b-side wins again” tracks though. Just Blaze’s beat is insane and any track that has CNN’s David Gergen on it definitely gets my stamp of approval. You decide. In Bob’s words:
What can I say? This is my first major single release and its already going purty well. First, my loyal DJ friends started spinning my track in Miami, DC, Bali, Qatar, and Boston. Then, South Florida Queen of All Things Indie- Lolo- spun Major Blazer on Gio’s radio show (Miami Time) over at Tha U. Next, Major Blazer hung around the Top 10 on Gigacrate all of last week- getting mad love from DJs all over the world- and was even ranked as high as #2 over incredible artists like Game, Pharrell, Rick Ross, and Little Wayne. The Miami New Times covered it. Hipster Overkill covered it. Now, we gotta take this thing world wide!
The A-Side, Major Blazer (Pon de flow) is my first attempt at rapping for the Electro heads. I love the downtown Miami club/lounge scene. I’m a regular at White Room and Vagabond where I always hear super interesting, quirky music that I enjoy. Every once in a while, I’m like: that song needs my vocals right away! Major Lazer’s “Pon de floor” is one of such songs. I love this beat. Its amazing. I hope my flow did the original justice.
The B-Side, Exhibit DMV (Bully Pulpit) is my flow over Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit A” beat. His song is a New Orleans anthem. I want mine to be a DMV anthem. Just listen to what I’m spitting about. All 100% real and relevant to our lives. The very official sounding voice you hear on the track using my government is none other than Harvard University and CNN’s own presidential adviser David Gergen. He introduced me at a panel I spoke on in the JFK, Jr. Forum at Harvard.
I coupled these two singles together for three reasons: 1) to show love to my current home Miami and my hometown DC simultaneously, 2) to show my range of skills- I can do it for the club goers and the deep Hip-Hop heads, 3) to pay homage to the “old school” way of doing things in music. I used to RUN to the store to buy a new single and was always happy to get the amazing B-side records that artists included. So, here you go. Enjoy!
FYI: Both of these tracks will be on my forthcoming mixtape Black Bobby’s Negro Dialect, which drops in May. Yo, I know its on this track but DON’T use my government in the press please! Hint. Thanks!
